About RPSL

RPSL Consortium is a company limited by guarantee. Originally, RPSL was created as a free structured platform, known as Regain Peace Sri Lanka in April 2019. Its primary purpose is to provide a platform for the Muslim community in Sri Lanka, which felt a void following the Easter Sunday attacks in 2019. The Consortium was established to unite intellectuals, professionals and community leaders and bring together inter and intra-community stakeholders to work towards regaining the peace that was lost due to the tragic event. The organization aims to reposition the Muslim community in the national context and ensure ethnic harmony, which has been endorsed by more than 1000 years of history of the Muslims in Sri Lanka. The Consortium consists of a significant number of intellectual and professional communities from diverse fields, who have come together to discuss community-related issues.

Initially, the consortium observed and discussed these issues under the “Vision-2030 Envisioning Sustainable Future” program. The Consortium convened several meetings to create a conceptual map and develop working strategies, focusing on the “Love to See” approach in 2030 for the Muslim community and the country. To achieve its objectives, the Consortium has established several sectoral committees, such as Youth Empowerment, Law and Order, Interfaith Dialogue and Peacebuilding, Women Empowerment, and Education and Awareness. Each committee has its own mandate and terms of reference, aimed at identifying significant issues and taking collective action for community development.

The Consortium’s membership comprises of retired judges of superior courts of Sri Lanka, former ambassadors, ministers, sportsmen, medical practitioners, president’s counsels, academia, engineers, accountants, attorneys-at-law, businessmen, and other highly qualified professionals. The advisory panel members provide guidance and advice to the sectoral committees to achieve their goals. The overall aim of the Consortium is to empower community members and create stronger and more connected communities.
